As part of a regular trip to Yorkshire we ventured along the coast in 2011 to check out various seaside resorts briefly and get a feel for whether we’d consider a longer visit at any point (we are fond of coastal towns and cities with the notable exception of Blackpool which is a complete dump); we found ourselves in Scarborough on a cold, windy, overcast day which is not that atypical for us as we often travel out of season to avoid crowds.
We more-or-less drove straight down to the beach and had a quick wander around. Not a lot to see but what we saw suited us and we wouldn’t rule out a stay in the area in the future as some of the clifftop places looked interesting and probably had lovely views.
