Something decidedly unsubtle with this photo rework, and mostly just an excuse to play around with Photoshop’s Neural Filters to see what sort of result would come out. The original photo for this was taken during the first part of our transit through the Suez Canal in late 2019, and the main subject of the photo is a monument from North Korea, of all places, to Egypt of an AK-47 bayonet. Weird, right? I think the end result looks like it could be a sci-fi setting either on another world entirely or on this one, post some horrifying global cooling catastrophe.
As indicated, the processing involved here involved one of the Neural Filters in Photoshop – obviously, one of the colder ones – and adjusted slightly to add an evening touch to it. Camera Raw was then used to tidy up some noise and improve the contrast a bit, before a new sky was added. Some touching up with the healing brush was needed in a few places to sort out some weird artefacts left over from the neural filter stage, and the final part was to overlay a red photo filter dropped down to around 14% opacity to take some of that sky colour and add it to the new, cold Suez Canal landscape.
