The Portsmouth International Kite Festival is a free event that takes place most years on Southsea Common in Portsmouth.
2024 will see the thirty first kite festival take place with kites on show from all over the UK and from around the world. We’ve not been to the previous thirty – I think we’ve only been to a handful – but we were definitely there in 2012 and the pictures below are from that occasion. A bit of sunshine, a few clouds, and decent wind conditions right on the coastline made for a fun occasion and you can see from the photos that it’s a popular event for families to attend.
If I had to guess, then I might say that the theme of the kite festival in 2012 was cartoon characters.
