For our 2017 visit to Wakefield to see Wakefield Trinity play – in light of the fact we had several other holidays taken and booked during the year – we kept it brief, only travelling up the day before and leaving immediately afterwards so as not to use up any unnecessary time off work. On the day of the rugby game we wandered into the city beforehand with the intention of taking some photos, grabbing some lunch and a drink, then walking to the stadium. To our surprise the city centre was cordoned off and filled with vehicles due to a Classic and American Car Show taking place. I’m not exactly a fan of cars and certainly not to the extent that I’d go out of my way to see a show but it was great to happen upon one by accident and photos swiftly followed.

It wasn’t just cars at the car show; bikes were present in fairly large numbers too.

I was quite taken with the paintwork and details on some of the vehicles present.

A few vehicles came from the world of television. Both Only Fools And Horses and The Prisoner were represented.

And finally, it wouldn’t be a Classic And American Car Show without an appearance by Imperial Stormtroopers. Apparently.
