After a weekend of watching Rugby League in Newcastle I chose a route home that would take us past Hadrian’s Wall which I’d never visited before (although my wife had). Before we hit the wall we made a slight detour and took a look around Chesters Roman Fort, a fortification with remains from quite a large section of history but with the bulk of them coming during Hadrian’s reign.
Thanks to the time of the year that we visited the grass was very green and we were afforded lovely skyscapes of blue and white, all of which made for some attractive landscape photography in the area.
Of course, no visit to a Roman fortification would be a visit without an image of a phallus. Those Romans sure did like their phalluses.
