In the early 2010s my wife's sister moved to America as part of her job, staying at the time near Reston, Virginia. She soon started dating an American who lived in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

In November, 2011 we visited them for a couple of weeks, staying at my sister-in-law's and using it as a base to explore nearby Washington D.C. and take a drive to Shenandoah National Park as well as taking the bus and staying for a day in New York too. In addition, thanks to the new American man in my wife's sister's life liking the New England Patriots, as I did, he arranged for us to fly up to Boston and see a Monday night football game in Gillette Stadium.
