It’s

Shit

Agree. Wholeheartedly. And 2021 looks to be shit also, at least for Americans, given how slowly fuckcheeto is rolling out the vaccines and how stupidly Americans are behaving in the meantime. Hubby and I are pretty sure our Nat Geo South Pacific cruise that leaves mid-April will be canceled. Even our August Nat Geo cruise to Greenland is dubious at this point. We don’t feel safe traveling domestically either, given what a petri dish the States are at the moment. We haven’t gone anywhere since we got back from Cabo this past January. Even though I’m sick of work, I’m reluctant to blow my leave on a ‘staycation’, as I’ll need it in spades for when we actually DO go back to the office (which won’t be anytime soon, thank god). Being 100% telework has been the one bright spot in an otherwise brutal year, but I’d rather be able to travel.

    • Yeah, I wouldn’t be expecting that April one to go ahead but you never know with August as more vaccines get approved and you get a change in administration. We’re barely planning to get outside the UK until November, though; around the UK in June, then it’s Norway in December. No flights planned at all as it stands because far-flung travel looks just a little too fragile at the moment but we’ve still got a week’s leave to play with and we’ll see what we can do with that when we see how things pan out.

Big spike in infections expected here in the next 2-3 weeks, though, and they’re letting kids back to school despite that so the government is definitely planning to just let them get infected, spread it, hope that most of the parents aren’t at risk and don’t mingle with the elderly while the vaccine dribbles out across the nation, and trust to blind luck and the common sense of the population. So we’re probably fucked, but who knows?

Yeah, we’re fucked too. And we’ve got an insurrection on top of it. Winning. Incidentally, I loved your new post about toxic religion; but, when I clicked on it to comment, I got a ‘404 Page Not Found’ error.

    • Yeah, that’s a really old post – 2004 – that for some reason I left private. I thought I’d just quietly make it public but didn’t realise it would shoot out an email so I unpublished it in order to check some things over and that coincided with my host resetting something so it’s all gone a bit crazy here as they’re doing some network maintenance. I’ll make it public again once I’ve got more confidence in the site staying up while I’m making tweaks.
